Rich
and Mike Cappiello opened Cappiello Brothers
Boxing and Fitness in the mid 1990s, located
in the heart of Brockton, Massachusetts. Thats
right, Brockton, better known as the City of
Champions. Given the fact that the sport of
boxing had lost its luster, this was a risk
that fueled a dream for the cousins of Rocky
Marciano. To open a gym in his memory, in his
name, was something they had talked about since
they were kids. With Mike (a former Lightweight
Champion) as Trainer, and Rich (owner of Capps
Auto Sales in Brockton) as Promoter, the two
brothers ventured into the world of amateur
and professional boxing.
The
brothers with their strong resemblance of the
great Marciano have given the local boxing scene
a much-needed wake up. The gym itself has taken
up a life of its own, packed every night with
young boxers determined to get in the ring.
Mike has built a strong amateur team and has
been running competitive amateur cards back
to back. The Cappiello name showcases the best
of New England. No fan leaves dissatisfied.
Mike has rightly become one of the top amateur
promoters in the New England area.
Together,
the brothers created their own boxing tournament,
the Rocky Marciano Tournament of Champions.
This tournament draws top amateurs from Connecticut,
New York, and Massachusetts. Now in its
forth season, young fighters get the opportunity
to show their skills in competitive bouts with
hopes to leave the venue with a championship
belt around their waste.
On
the pro side of things, Rich has been featuring
high-quality, competitive cards. His energy
and passion have created an excitement that
boxing fans havent felt in some time.

Mohegan Sun Fight Night USA. A fight
series that broadcasts five to eight times a
year at the second largest casino in the world,
Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. Currently,
the series airs on FOX Sports New England and
the Sports Network New York.
Cappiello
Promotions, the professional side of the game
has been promoting professional cards through
out New England since 1990. Building on its
reputation of featuring top quality fighters,
the Cappiellos have made their way with
fighters on the rise, Willie "The
Gladiator" Gibbs, Mike" Machine Gun"
Oliver, Elvin Ayala, and Dat Nyugen. However,
the Cappiellos played their hand in some
history making of their own; picking Kevin McBride
up after a loss against DaVarryl Williamson.
The Cappiellos took McBride under their
direction and rattled off seven straight wins.
Including a main event win on ESPN at Foxwoods
Casino in Connecticut against Kevin Montiy.
On June 11, 2005 in a Pay-per-View event, Irish
heavyweight Kevin "The Clones Colossus"
McBride retired the "baddest" man
in the planet in the sixth round at the MCI
Center, Iron Mike Tyson.
A
team such as the Cappiello Brothers and the
blood of Rocky pumping through their veins,
this venture, this journey to attribute to the
sport of boxing has been accomplished. You can
only watch for more to come from this family
of boxing.
